The Playbook charger obviously charge faster, but it also makes the battery hot, so will that shorten the life of the battery or degrade it faster? What do you people with both chargers usually do?

The PlayBook charger is 1.8A I do believe? Or 2.1A?

Either way, the PlayBook charger will charge your device faster, however, I'd strongly suggest you avoid doing resource intensive things on the phone while charging it with the higher average charger (the PlayBook one). Some say this a wivestail, i myself have always gotten better battery life after the charge, regardless of the speed of the charge,when I avoid using it while it's charging for anything more than a quick Web browse or a few messages here and there.

Playbook charger here. The Passport charger never came out of the box.
If you change and use at the same time it does get hot. Charging only, just a little warm.
