For all of you SwiftKey, and other 3rd party keyboard lovers out there, I just installed SwiftKey on my Z3 running 10.2.1.

It works fine, just as intended. BUT, it only works when you're using an Android app. It will default to the BB keyboard when using BlackBerry native apps. So for most day-to-day use, you'll still be using the BB kb.

    Here's how to do it..

By the way, I didn't figure this out. Another CB user did and posted it. I'm just repeating it in another new post. Forgive me for not knowing their name. I'll check into it and give them full credit later..

EDIT: You can thank SCrid2000 for this method. Thanks!

I'm assuming you have Snap or the Amazon store app installed and know how to use it. If not, check other posts.

    1. First, you need a launcher to enable the KB, the BlackBerry native settings can't do it. Go to the Snap /Amazon store app, search for the ADWex launcher, download and install it.

    2. Next, Download and Install SwiftKey (or whatever 3rd party KB you want). Run through the entire set up. When you get the the end where it says to ENABLE SwiftKey, you can't. So stop here.

    3. Open the ADWex app and find the Settings icon. NOT ADW setting, just Settings (note the icon in the screen shot below)
Then, Go to "Language and inputs" and enable SwiftKey. Also, set it as your default KB. It will show BlackBerry kb as your default. Don't worry. This only effects android apps, not native ones. Exit.

    4. You're done!

Launch an Android app and it should pull up the SwiftKey KB now. You can customize it just like in the native android app. Just go to settings and tailor it however you want. It works as normal.

    Have fun!

No issues so far. Seems to work just like the Android version, very accurate and fast.

Lets hope, blackberry may open to third party keyboards in 10.3.1 similar to iOS 8.

Worked on my z10 thanks. Will post progress. I know the bb10 os uses a version of this, but I do wish SwiftKey worked on everything in bbos

I've disabled it, ingress doesn't like it much. Some android core processes stop. Just seemed very buggy.

This was the workaround last year when people were trying to get earlier version of Instagram to work. You can also use Ghost Commander from BBW to enable any android k/b.

Why would you use this? The stock bb10 keyboard is already powered by swift key.

No it isn't. It's using Swiftkey prediction technology.

And the reason they'd want it is because it's faster to swype using Swiftkey than type manually and flick up with the bb10 keyboard. Just my $0.02

Use Ghost Commander, location, home, apps.

Exposes quite a few android apps including dev tools and settings. Launch settings in its apps, go to about phone, tap build number a few times.

Set activity name of text editor for activity name of helium. Run shell scripts, Python scripts and JavaScript.

Never found it to better than BB10's language macro shortcuts and magic numbers though.
