According to John Chen speaking at BlackBerry Second Quarter Fiscal 2015 Earnings Conference Call, over 1 million BB10 users have been added in Q2 Fiscal 2015.

Small number, but it's still not that bad as long as the number of users is growing.

Second Quarter Fiscal 2015 Earnings Conference Call here: http://ca.blackberry.com/company/investors/events.html

At 00:03:30 he talks about BB10 users

I wonder how well they can track the difference between users replacing phones and new BB customers. Perhaps BB ID registrations?

Yes, I believe that would be a good enough method.

And those are on top of the 1 million from the last quarter. It's starting to feel a little crowded here

Of course it isn't. If not for the good numbers of the Passport launch, the future would look badly.

Would be good to know how many BBOS users left for comparison.

How does the passport launch have any anything to do with Q2 performance? Q2 ended at the end of August, a month before the passport release.

Your device registers itself with the BlackBerry Infrastructure and they know exactly what device and OS you're running.

That would be my guess. Potentially also BBM transferring from device to device

Last quarter, they said they had about 47 million BlackBerry users. So I'd guess at least 37 million of those are BBOS.

70% of sales were Bb10 in Q2. So that works out to about 1.6 million phones.

This is a complicated thing. BlackBerry OS sales have been declining faster than BlackBerry 10 sales have been able to pick up the pace. As a result, shipments are still declining year over year. Not quite sure where bottom is but hopefully we're near it.

They really need to stabilize the userbase, because while I see them being able to convert corporate users. I don't see them being able to convert existing consumers in developing markets. Pricing, features, changes in carrier plans... these are all making a BlackBerry a less competitive and thus less desirable device.

I think the bottom is somewhere around the current BES subscription base... at least for now.

What's amazing is how many BlackBerry's they have sold over the last two years compared to the 47 Million users.... there are a LOT of old devices out there! Fortunately with BIS they are still making BlackBerry money.
