Night and day, people. Some of my Android apps feel almost native and don't need to reload after being minimized. I'll keep an eye on battery usage however.

I agree. I've only tried Sonos so far but the app has gone from unusable to feeling almost native.

Great news! I hope 10.3.1 gets us Z30 owners mostly there and 3GB of Ram is responsible for the rest.

Speaking of RAM, Doesn't RAM come in sticks of 1,2 or 4 ( or 512 MB?) If so does that mean it's using one slot of 2 GB and 1 slot of 1 GB? And if so It sounds like it would be easy to expand it to 4 GB? Perhaps due to manufacturing limitations you can't expand on a current device but certainly the next iteration could have 4GB without using up additional space... just a thought..

I don't think that's how it works when it comes to phone manufacturing. But this is 32-bit OS, so 4gb of ram would be of no use (not yet, anyway).

I believe a 32-bit OS can access up to 4GB of RAM (even more with PAE).

Only with PAE. We'll see a 64bit OS before we see 4gb phones.

    Your thinking desktop.

RAM comes on flat chips soldered onto the phone circuit board. Think z10 has one ddr2 2gb chip and one 16gb flash chip.

It's possible (but extremely high risk and likely to fail due to accidental short circuit) to unsolder the chips and solder on chips of same spec but different capacity.

    Do 3Gb chips exist?
Do 4gb ram chips exist that will fit a Z10?

    Z10 chip is K3PE0E000A XG

Here's where to find out -

If Z10s get any cheaper people might actually start considering this kind of thing? Maybe in another couple of years if your old z10s gathering dust?

Apparently the problem with not receiving push notifications on BB10 is the lack of Google play services.

Hopefully amazon and blackberry will introduce a replacement service soon.

Thanks, Interesting responses re:RAM I think it's especially important for BlackBerry to stay at the front of the spec race to ensure the Android Runtime operates as smoothly as possible, that plus the many headless apps and active frames we can have running. Couple that with USB OTG and whatever our new micro HDMI port is called again and our devices can do so much more than a regular smartphone we need the best specs.

PC ram and smartphone ram are two completely different technologies.

In theory, they should not (since the fire phone doesn't have play services installed) . But amazon allows any app into their app store.
