This happened after I did the latest software upgrade. My theory is that it happened because my device was configured to use Picture Password (it was turned on) while I did the upgrade. Though I haven't tried it, I'm wondering if a security wipe would set this configuration error straight -- security wipes fixed little bugs like this in the past -- but I haven't done one because this doesn't bother me much. Here's a workaround. If Picture Password is on and you want to turn it off, toggle the off control to the on position and go through the steps of setting a new Picture Password. Once that's done, before leaving the settings screen, manually toggle the switch to off. You may be prompted again for your password in order to effect the change, but these steps will turn Picture Password off.
    FF22 and zozo1980 like this.

    Pretty sure that's security related...

i.e. Your ppw is active and works, if you (or someone else) tries to change it they need to know ph password to do so ^^
