Amazon Appstore now sends Update Notifications to Hub on 10.3-img_20140917_234306.png

Just updated my Amazon Store and got notifications for three app updates available - looks like integration is getting much closer than ever Also had notifications of installations that were complete come through to the Hub as well.

    Great work.

That's welcome news! Very cool that it's slightly more integrated than previous Android stores, including Amazon Appstore, have been on 10.2.1.

Well, if there's a way to get Android apps to integrate with the Hub with Amazon's contribution, even if it's just notifications, that's pretty cool. I wonder how deep this will eventually get?

Android apps can send Notifications to Hub on 10.2.1 too, but IIRC they're not labelled as well as the Amazon ones in your screenshot.

They're getting pretty integrated. I was surprised when I saw an "actionable" notification from the Rhapsody Android app. It actually let's you pause and change tracks from within the hub. (Not sure what that 1969 date is about though... lol)

Kobo has always loved the Hub. A bit much at times, as if it was it's first love but love none the less.

The new Amazon app does this for me but not the Appstore. (Z10STL100-2/10.2.1.3247)

Unfortunately I can only install updates through the new app and not install new apps because it says I must allow it in my security settings.. however this is obviously already done.

I'm surprised this hasn't come up more. It's really annoying, especially given we're days away from 10.3 launching.

And that's exactly why "it hasn't come up more." It works fine on 10.3, which happens to be the first OS version for which BlackBerry actually officially supported the Amazon app store.

Oh does it? Well in that case you've answered the question. Bit of a nuisance until it drops then. So on 10.3 do you use the App Store app at all, or route everything through the Amazon one?

Still two separate app stores. BlackBerry World and Amazon Appstore. I'll be interesting to see if they ever merge them,.. I doubt it as Amazon would probably prefer to keep the "Amazon" branding on theirs.

Sorry I didn't mean that. On 10.2 I get two separate notifications to upgrade an Android apps - one from the Amazon app and one from the Amazon App Store app. If I click on the notification from the former then I have the problem of it saying I have to turn the installation of outside apps on. If the latter, it works fine. So it appears to me as though Amazon are trying to merge their two apps together.

Amazon and Amazon appstore are two separate apps, Amazon is the new app with the light theme and integrated shop front (and prime). The issue exists only with the new Amazon app, it would make sense if Amazon discontinued the older appstore once the issues are fixed.

What about snap? They working in integrations? I wish I could read reviews.

Also, I find ten times more apps on snap than Amazon. Why wouldn't an android developer put his app in both stores?

A developer might not see it as cost-effective to make their app compatible. They may rely on Google Services or not be suited to the larger Kindle screens.

    Snap is not legal.
