I know it is a very stupid and strange question but I really suffered a lot when I couldn't make or receive BBM voice calls outside. Currently I am using a BlackBerry Bold 9900 as the main device. As far as I know, unlike BB10, OS7 devices can only use BBM voice via WiFi. As most of my families and friends are in my home country, this function means a lot to me.

I know on jailbroken iOS devices, there are a couple of plug-ins that enable the phone to treat the current active network type as WiFi under all circumstances. This helped people facetime each other on cellular network (Initially facetime only worked under WiFi). I wonder if there are any similar apps on BlackBerry platform, with which I could make and receive BBM voice calls on the go.

I understand there are some alternatives such as viber, but I think using a integrated app might be a better choice in terms of power consumption. Thanks in advance and sorry for my broken English.

get a BlackBerry 10 device and you can make and receive voice and video BBM calls on your mobile network data...you dont need any 3rd party app....its inbuilt!!!!

The thing is I just spent $399 on a Bold 9900. It is highly unlikely for me to buy another BB10 device in the near future...
