Here's the Amazon Prime Instant Video APK that's needed aside from the Amazon Shop app. It doesn't work and shows not eligible on BlackBerry 10 devices HOWEVER, I'm posting it here in case someone wants to rip the APK apart and attempt to make it work. It's clearly doing a device check upon start up, if that was removed it could potentially work. I'm just too sick at the moment to look at the code lol. - https://mega.co.nz/#!KtAmTTiK!WQCaSa...enn5C65HAukoKU

I got it to install this morning, but it pretty much behaves as a clone of the Amazon app. I'm in Brasil and I am not willing to risk paying for Prime services when I know I can't make 100% use of them, but I'll try buying a video and then see what happens.

EDIT: No such luck. I think I need either a proxy or a VPN to fool Amazon's location tech. I'll try in the morning.

This was my experience, too. It is completely ridiculous. I have Amazon App Store on my Z10. I have purchased a couple of dozen apps from their app store and my Z10 is registered as an Android device in my Amazon profile. What makes my Z10 so different from my wife's Nexus 4? I have been a huge Amazon advocate in the past and been a Prime member for the last 3 years, but am rethinking whether to renew or not next year. They stripped out the Prime Instant Video add on for XBMC so I can't watch Prime on my HTPCs, they advertise that Prime Instant works on Android tablets, phones and mobile devices bit of the 4 mobile devices I have, only the Nexus 4 works. At this point the only real reason for me to even keep Prime is for the free 2 day shipping but now that the rest of the retail world is finally getting more competitive with pricing, even that advantage has less and less listed. Hmm, just hmmmm.

Anyone know of a free VPN (or a very cheap one) that works with BB10?

A little ironic that just a day later BlackBerry has a blog post up celebrating the integration of Amazon apps in the Passport.

I suppose we'll see what happens in a few weeks.

PureVPN. Not free but it's cheap-ish.

Why exactly do we need the app if we can play Prime videos through the browser? An app would be nice, but with the browser, why install another app?

You have to go to setting on amazon prime and switch from silver light to flash. Then it will work.

I'm looking all over the Amazon Prime app and am not seeing a section to change streaming from silver light to flash. Can you please provide a step by step of how to get to that setting?

    Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I think they are referring to a setting accessed through the website.

Yeah, the setting has to be changed on their desktop site. You won't be able to watch shows and movies on the app itself but on the browser(p.s. not on the mobile site, it'll just tell you "Prime and Purchased videos can be watched on supported devices, including the Fire Phone and the Amazon app for Android phones".

The app won't work, apparently because BlackBerries are not on the officially supported list. The BB10 native browser works like a charm, though.

    Here's the step-by-step:

    (1) open the native browser
    (2) go to browser's settings, Display and Actions, and activate Adobe Flash
    (3) then go to browser's settings, Developer Tools, activate desktop mode
    (4) navigate to Amazon.com and sign in
    (5) click on the Shop by Department button and select "Unlimited Instant Video"
    (6) select Amazon Instant Video or Prime Video from the list

    (7) press the settings button on the website page next to "Your Watchlist" and "Your Video Library"
    (8) you may have to sign in again.
    (9) scroll down and make sure Adobe Flash is selected

    (10) Navigate back to videos and enjoy!

I'm hoping with the deal that BlackBerry has signed with Amazon, that they will configure their app to accept BlackBerry devices, so we don't have to go through all this hassle.

The "work around" with silverlight and flash is only working for U.S. customers. In all other countrys where instant video is available such as the UK, germany etc, silverlight is the only option which means, either getting the app to work or not having instant video on your phone. So i would really apprectiate a possibility to get it working via apk. I hope, amazon allows Blackberrys on their "whitelist" or offers a native app.

    Hi,

I've followed the steps and there is no web player preferences tab in that window. It must be a US only thing (in the UK).
