10.3 needs to be branded. The BB10 brand has a poor image. With Apple, they brand their updates, like iOS 7, 8, etc. This should be branded like something as BB3, to signify a new attempt. lay consumers will think its the same "lame" OS, even though the OS is good.

I don't believe BB10 has a poor image. Most people don't even know what it is. Maybe you are talking about BB OS7?

Rename it! No one knows what version we're on anyway! Just don't give it a name after candy or animals... try uhhh, I don't know. Fire your creative department and start again... who is still on numbers alone? I hate apple and google but damn, sometimes I don't see ANY creativity from blackberry at all. They sell themselves like a carpet company.

Problem is the name BlackBerry. You can put any number around it, but without educating the market that things have changed, they will still associate BlackBerry with BBOS, and laggy devices, battery pulls, etc. BlackBerry thought their name was good and thought people would buy whatever had that name on it and they were wrong.

The rumour has been for some time that 10.3.x will be the last version of the QNX based OS to be called BlackBerry 10.

So OP, sometime next year you may get your wish however I have a horrible feeling the next "brand" will be BlackBerry 12 in line with BES12.

    Doesn't really work for me.

They could give each iteration a name however for 12.0, 12.1, 12.2 etc but I don't know what would be a good category of names to use.

Planets maybe? That's good for 7 or 8 iterations, because you definitely have to skip Uranus.

Since it's targeted after the corporate world, they should name them after cities... sort of like how they call them before the phone are relased

I think that's a great idea. BB11 "Manhattan" or something like that.
