Just picked up a Q5. Know all about the unchangeable battery. would like to know, if outside extended battery would work the Q5, if the original completely dies?

Shouldn't be a problem. I have one of the Z10 spare battery charger kits that works on my Q5 as well. The phone just recognizes it as being on a charger. There's no reason it wouldn't work with any retail external battery packs.

Now, if you are asking if way down the road, the internal battery is completely dead, will it run with just an external source, that's a bit different. I kind of doubt it simply because I know that my Z10 will not run if I remove the battery completely but have it plugged in. I have a feeling that when the internal battery dies completely to where it won't hold a charge, you will either be replacing it or ditching the phone.

But for the price of the phone, I'm not too worried about down the road when that happens.

It is possible to replace the battery on a Q5, I have taken my daughters Q5 a part quite a few times, its pretty easy actually. The battery is glued in but can be pryed off carefully by sliding a thin metal blade like a metal ruler under the battery. New OEM batteries are available off ebay.

The Q5 has outstanding battery life as is. You shouldn't need an external charger.
