Yes you would be able to restore but from experience, restoring previous data brings along lots and lots of issues.
Best Advice IMO, load a leak and start afresh.

Yes, you will be able to restore all your pictures, videos, docs, pdfs, and stuff. Just back it up before you load the OS. Just don't restore any of the old settings.

I can be done, but I always start fresh without a backup/restore. Contacts and previous texts are all I really care about, so I use Contact-X and SMS Backup apps for that and then re-download my apps from App World.

If you are updating from 10.2, you can also do a non destructive sachesi update. You will keep all settings, contacts, apps etc.
I did last weekend. Went from 10.2.2 to. 10.3. It's like a wireless update.
Only thing you'll have to do is readd your email and social media accounts.

Backup all of it, its jus the restore that can cause screwy things to happen, usually caused by restoring settings.

If for whatever reason the install doesn't go well, at least you will have it all backed up

Let's not forget to inform people that things can go awry with the non-destructive loading as well, also a full restore can be flawless. Backups must be made regardless of loading method.

Exactly. I used an autoloader to go from 10.2.1 to 10.3.0.1024, did a full restore and was perfectly fine. Then I used Sachesi to install .1154 and lost all Wi-Fi profiles.

Bottom line, everyone: BACK UP YOUR DEVICE, no matter what or how you chose to upgrade.

Connect your phone to blackberry Link, choose the full back up option and let Link back up everything.
    2. Run the autoloader and let the phone boot up after autoloader closes
    3. complete your setup
    4. leave the phone for about 20 minutes for your bbm and some other things to sync
    5. connect phone to link again and choose restore
    6. from restore page, choose the type of back up you want
    7. exclude runtime and settings
    8. Let the phone reboot
    9. Reboot again and you should be good

Note: Restore does not work for everybody.

Back it all up. Full. You can then do a full restore as well, because if it works (like mine do) you're good to go. And if you run into issues after a full restore, then just perform a security wipe and do a custom restore leaving out Settings.

Confusing post my friend. You say "start fresh" and "backup / restore"... which is it???? You can't do both. You can't start with a "fresh" os if you "backup and restore...that is NOT starting "fresh".
Make sure that they are not using backups from BlackBerry Link.
