I know the answer is likely a big fat "no" but just in case I'm overlooking something...

I work late late late shift and often set my phone to "phone calls only" so that txt and email notifications don't wake me. However, I still get people that after all these years, haven't figured out to NOT CALL ME during the day unless it's an emergency.

Problem is, can't turn to silent mode, in case the small number of people - maybe 2 or 3 - that I want to hear from 24-7 no matter what - may have an emergency and need to call me.

Any way to set up a profile, or an app available that adds this functionality, to where I can only hear calls from a certain few contacts?

I'm about ready to buy a cheap burner type phone just as an emergency number and not give it to anybody but those people. Seems like a waste of money though; should be able to do it on my existing phone!

    Thanks!

I'm looking for the exactly same thing. I have one number I need to keep full blast 24/7, even when I'm sleeping.

I would be willing to be a large number of mobile users in general could use a feature like this. No calls or alerts -with exception of- calls from a small group of people or even just 1 person.

I thought there was an option in BBOS to do that, a "custom" profile option. Then you could assign a silent ringtone and then add a real one you could hear to the contact(s) you need to be able to reach you. But I don't see that in BB10.

I do seem to have a vague memory of that from BBOS days, but it's still not the same solution. It needs to be much simpler - a toggle on/off just like silent, phone calls only, vibrate only, etc. and just allow a preset group of contacts to still call in while everyone/everything else remains silent.

Tag me for this need as well. Through lots of customizing, phone is mostly vibrate except for a few individuals. Pain in the rear with every OS load as have to go into most contacts and turn sound off.

BBOS handled custom profiles like nobody's business. If there's one area that BB10 is still lagging when compared to BBOS7, 5, or even 3 for that matter, it most definitely is custom profiles.
You literally could set a profile for just about anything. Really powerful stuff. Hope to see it return soon to BB10.

Put me in this line. This is one of things I miss the most in BB10. My 9900 was awesome in that regard. C'mon BlackBerry, get this feature in 10.3.1.XXXX

You're going to go through 100's of contacts to silence them all every time you need it?

With OS10.3 and a call blocker app you can block all incoming calls and only accept white list callers say from 12am to 6am.

    That should work as workaround.

If you are talking about text and email then there is a solution. You can use my Power Tools app to manage LED for contacts.

But that doesn't work because if you turn on Silent, that custom profile is silenced by your Global setting.

Turn on Silent and check your custom profile sound setting and you can read the following alert...

Customizing notifications for a contact doesn't do it. We need a profile option like old Blackberry had - a whitelist type profile. This is a BIG problem for me.

There are a couple apps in BBW that may accomplish what you're looking for and have a whitelist option .

Call and SMS Blocker or Call Assistant Pro come to mind.

Go to your notification settings, click on contact notifications and select what sound to hear when something comes in for that person. Next, set the sound option to on. That way it will override any profile you activate

Set the phone to silent and make a custom profile for one contact by editing the contact and setting it to not obey the profile settings.
