Use Aftermarket Keyboards in Android Apps (OS 10.3)-img_20140830_131222.png

I had tried doing this in the past, but it had never worked before. On a whim, I decided to see if it would work on the new OS 10.3 leak.

To help other people out, here is what my setup looks like right now.
I'm running 10.3.0.1130*, with the updated bars from 10.3.0.1154. I also have patched google services framework, but that probably isn't needed.
*I didn't install it using the autoloader, but the end result should be the same.

Alright, so here's how you do it:

    1. Install the aftermarket keyboard you want to use. I installed SwiftKey https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...swiftkey&hl=en. Go ahead and launch it, but when you try to invoke settings from it, you can't.

    2. You need a way to access the Android Settings (this is not the same as the BlackBerry Settings). I used ADW Ex, but that's a paid app I own, so here's a link to the free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...launcher&hl=en

    3. Via ADW, launch Settings.

    4. In Settings, go down and select "Language and Input"

    5. Enable Swiftkey, then change the default keyboard to SwiftKey

That's it, now when you launch an Android app you should have your aftermarket keyboard pop open rather than the stock BlackBerry one.

This is a great find! I use devices with physical KBs, but the ADW option for accessing Android settings will help me tremendously.

I did try the Fleksy and L Keyboard, but reverted back to the BlackBerry Keyboard as found it way superior.

Awesome find! I haven't tried with swift key but I've gotten the Google keyboard to work pretty much the same way you did there but on 10.2.1 it's fun to play with but in the end I went back to the BlackBerry keyboard.

I've never tried it before but I don't see why not. Android keyboards work within the android apps after installed and activated in the android settings. Like I said I've never tried that specific keyboard but I have tried the Google keyboard and some sort of emoticons keyboard for Facebook and they both worked just fine.

I didn't think this would be news tbh. What would b a great find is if we could replace the native keys. But of course BlackBerry dosnt allow that. I swear sometimes I miss android not too much tho. I think this should be something BlackBerry should have built in.

And freaking notification light colors. That one is just silly.
