The Q5 was recently available on Telus Prepaid for $150-$180. Just noticed recently that the phone's no longer listed on their site, though.

From the web orders team for Telus (Canada):

    "Hello Marc,

Please be advised that the Prepaid Blackberry Q5 has been discontinued and is no longer in stock. You can find a complete inventory of Certified Pre-Owned phones currently available via the link: Smartphones, iPhone and plans | Mobility | TELUS.com.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you should have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    Grace"

I'm hoping by "discontinued" they mean no longer offered directly through them, as I still see the phone listed on Futureshop and Best Buy. There's always Koodo too.

I saw some Telus prepaid Q5 at Walmart. They might still have stock at Telus stores.

I imagine they'll be sold at Virgin, Koodo and Fido for a while before all stock is sold off as prepaid. As much as I like this budget phone, if my next one has to be a passport, then so be it

This week's Best Buy Canada flyer.

Very tempted to pick one up as a back up/leak tester.

the real question is...... Why the heck would you want a Q5????? its old, slow, and there are currently 3 bb's that are far superior to it, and at least 2 more new, AND better again coming out in the next month. hello????

It's not slow whatsoever. I have a q5 a z10 and a z30. The z10 has slowdown but the q5 and z30 do not. The q5 also has excellent battery life.

Well, I got my from Best Buy for 100+TAX (had a 30$ off coupon). LTE, great battery life, no lagging, bb hub, physical keyboard can be best describe why I got a Q5. I know that many of you like high specs, but at the end of the day it's all about some basic functionality.

Love my Q5 just like my 9320, 9810, and 9900. These days simply upgrading to any BB 10 phone will help the company. The Q5 is terrific and a great value. Not everyone needs or even wants a 700 dollar phone.

    yup,
think their is a cultural difference between Z30 and Q5 users developing. Both groups love their BB's but don't understand the other guy. Blackberry needs us all.

I bought 2. One for my mom, one for a spare.

The spare was bought and unlocked for travel. Now trying to decide if I want to put a Koodo prepaid SIM in it or swap my own into it every now and again.

I love typing on my Z10, but every now and again I just want that tactile feedback.

I have also loaded 10.3 on my Z10 and my Q5. The Q5 is less buggy. I can use my Q5 on wifi to sync both my Fitbit and my Garmin Vivofit. On my Z10, I can't get it to find my Fitbit and it finds my Garmin 50% of the time.

It's a very nice little phone for $150 outright.

They cost half a Z10, third of a Z30/Q10 on sale, a quarter of the price when not on sale.

The new ones, especially the Passport will easily cost 5x plus of the Q5,

Why would I buy a Corolla instead of a Ferrari?

It's also a great price for a back up phone, an "outdoor" or "work" phone, a leak tester, beta device, etc.

I'm hoping to talk myself out of one. I have a couple of gift certificates which would make ir about $100 with tax, that's hard to beat!

I think the Q5 is ok for its price. If I had a choice and the extra cash, I would definitely. Buy the extra storage and better battery life on a Q10. Had a Q5 loaner for about 2 weeks and if I needed a back up emergency phone, the Q5 would be my choice rather than an iphone or android

Actually I think the Q5 has better battery life than the Q10. It has a brighter display (IMO), and a great clicky keyboard. Love the high-end look of the Q10 though. Both devices are a bargain right now too.

    But why?!

I can understand preferring the keyboard of the Q5 over the Q10, but how can you possibly prefer the Z10 to the Z30?!?!

The Z30 has about 3x the battery life, a better quality and larger screen, amazing sound and runs more smoothly. there's really nothing to like more about the Z10 except for maybe the size.

Since I've made the switch I haven't touched my Z10 until today and I'm immediately craving my Z30 again. It's a far, far superior device in almost every way possible! But hey, to each his own!

I prefer the design, the size, the looks and the nice rubber back of the device.

However, I decided to upgrade to the Z30 for all those reasons. The battery, the Antenna, the upgraded internals, even the gimmicky stuff like the Fm radio and USB OTG that I actually use.

I didn't grab it for the screen size or the looks.

So, I DO prefer the Z30 and it's what I use.

But I still think that the Z10 looks much better.
