Hello All

I recently downloaded snapchat and when accessing it a pop up came stating I need to get Google play services for it to run properly. I did so now it's telling me google play services isn't gonna work now it says I need to contact the manufacturer for assistance... um can snapchat run on BlackBerry 10 or should I delete it?

If it needs Google Play Services it's not going to work on a BlackBerry.

You can try the Amazon App Store, albiet the app" count" may not be as great as the Play Store, but I find it easier, and have not noticed a "battery drain" as a few folks around here have.

Snapchat works for me. When it asks for Google Play services, I just swipe either way and it is functional from there. Slow, but works

By installing 3 apks I found in a pack somewhere on this site I was able to login to Google services on my z10




I dug around because I wanted to try ingress, and that made it sign in successfully.. if you're interested I could try sending you the files

I have read accounts of SnapChat eventually banning users who logged in using unauthorized SnapChat client apps. Here is background info:

SnapChat had a couple of embarrassing security breeches which were in the news, and that kind of thing can be enough to destroy a company in SnapChat's position - so SnapChat greatly increased their security and intentionally and vigorously set about disabling access to any and all third-party SnapChat clients, so that SnapChat could control who was accessing the service using which client. Note that at least one if not several third-party client violated the ToS and were allowing pics to be saved, etc. They also locked down the security of their own first-party clients.

This unfortunately impacted any platform which SnapChat doesn't make a client for, as those users simply don't have an authorized way to access SnapChat - but looking at marketshare numbers of the various platforms, SnapChat obviously concluded that they could survive without the <4% of global users (<2% in the US) that don't use either iOS or Android, and that it didn't make financial sense to write clients for #3 (WinPhone, 3%), #4 (Tizen, 0.6%), or #5 (BB10, 0.2%), among others. Their position is; if SnapChat is important to you, move to a supported platform.

This post was a little over a1 year 5 months ago and the methods of resolution no longer work. You have two options get Casper (I don't recommend it) or get an android running phone.

Casper was alright until Snapchat officially banned me for using a BlackBerry device. I had been warned with APK versions and they finally did it. If you do manage to get it working via Casper.io or some other methods, know that they will shut down your account simply based on the fact that you're using a BlackBerry (or Windows phone).

I guess BlackBerry is deemed too secure for the easily hacked nude sending service...

I guess this was the reason why you needed Casper/Snapchat.
