I just helped a friend/customer convert his legacy BESX (75 free licences) to BES 10.x using EZPass. This customer was going to leave BlackBerry because of a perceived cost of upgrading to BES 10.x or BES 12.x. Now that he has access to BES 10.x he will be ordering 64 new BB10 devices to replace legacy BBOS units. It's great that BlackBerry has allowed old BESX users to use EZPass since they eliminated BESX on BB10.

The only drawback is the Z30 is not available on his carrier (AT&T and no he's not switching). I recommended he wait until the Passport and Classic (hope AT&T is listening) are released before upgrading. He didn't even know about those two units. He's now once again enthusiastic about BlackBerry when he was just about to pull the trigger on a change to a different phone.

Most of the people I knew that were on BESX... moved on last year - Devices were so old as they had been waiting and waiting for the new platform. But then it appeared that BB10 was a flop and BES Licensing was pretty expensive before they started the $19 a year.

Wasn't aware they had included BESX in the EZPass program. That is great for those users that have stuck with BESX... and it eventually going to turn in to device sales. But if they are giving BESX users who never paid anything a Perpetual Silver License, seems like that will cost BlackBerry in the long run. Going to be important for devices to have a little something built-in to their price to cover this....

Hmm when you apply for EZ-Pass you have to send BlackBerry a screen shot of your current CALs in the BAS console. How do you do that if you're running BES Express?

Send a list of the CAL codes.

There is no list of CAL codes in BES Express, that's my point.

Use the link that generated your Serial Number and CAL code when you first got BESX.

It would also be possible to pull the CAL out of the SQL database as well.
