Hi all,

I am using my Z10 from more than a year now and I love it, no major issues except a recent charging level bug. Now, I want to give my phone to my brother and want to switch to q10 because that's the phone I always wanted, but not able to buy it before due to it's high price.

I know about it's built quality, battery backup, keyboard performance etc. But, after watching a video which shows that most of the apps are not built for the screen size of q10, I am quite confused. That guy showed some examples too, he also mentioned that the apps which work on android are created for bigger screens of android phones, so they do not work properly on q10. So, I am quite confused now, as I am using some of the android apps which are very important for me.

Can you guys share some of your experience with q10 and it's performance with ported apps?

1- work
2- private
3- backup(ordered it this week)

I dont know if I want the Classic if it wont have a removable battery. I need this for my business and private use

As I mentioned in my post, I always wanted Q10 but couldn't because of high price. And, those who like keypad will switch to Q10 for sure. I am not able to type fast on Z10, that's the biggest reason I want to switch to Q10.

This is the important question. It's not the screen size of the Q10 that's an issue, more that it has a square screen while the various droid apps are optimized to fit a 16:9 screen like most all-touch phones have.

Instagram & Igrann (Instagram Ported)
Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Skype
Foursquare
Abi Notes
Evernote
Fastube
Some music apps ported from Android
Google Maps (Ported)
SppedView (Ported)
Asana (Ported)
Hike (Ported)

I tried including all of them, could have missed 2-3 of them.

That is why, I am little afraid that I may face trouble with some apps or may be some upcoming apps in future are going to give me trouble?

No, all my needs(apps) are correct.

Oh- and I like the black original bezel a lot better after I was using the silver one for a few weeks

That sounds awesome. I just hope that I get some feedback about apps from other q10 users too, that will help me decide and I may get mine next week

Most android apps work fine. Mostly games are not available on q10 in my experience. Don't have a whole lot of apps on my Z that are not available for the Q except from the game department. I believe that the upcoming passport may boost the app availability for square screens.

Google maps works fine. Don't use any of the others that you mentioned.

All the social apps are fine. Well BlackBerry Facebook app kind of sucks, but that's the app not the Q's screen. FasTube and Evernote are fine. I use TuneIn and Apollo (Pandora) for music and they're good. Mainly games are what don't work so well.

So far I have Viber, Instagram, and Spotify ported from Android. All work without issues. I just have a teeny tiny window on Instagram but I don't use that as often so not a big worry for me.

I can confirm the ported Instagram works fine on the Q10. So does iGrann.

If you like the keyboard, go for Q10. You will be really happy. This is the best feature of Q10 and only reason I bought it.
About your apps:

Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't play much games on my mobile, but apps are very important for me. As you are also Z & Q users, then I think that my experience will also be good with Q.

Also, I totally forgot that passport is coming and apps might be modified according to it's screen, that will be a huge advantage. Thanks for sharing your thoughts..

Are you using BB facebook app on Q10? Or the ported app?

I actually have both installed. The BlackBerry one works ok but it doesn't show all posts which is pretty frustrating. The Android app doesn't have this problem but it takes a bit longer to load the way some Android apps do. And it doesn't sync with the HUB.

I know. I'm out of the house using the note 3 for this reason. It's been on so long without charging that I had to leave it at home. Ordered two spare batteries this morning
