This is post is more of an observation than anything else. I just got back from a German automotive company sponsored German-American chamber event and let me tell you something, Blackberry is alive and kicking! The room was filed with about 60 people and all senior/leadership level professionals whom are either German or work for a German firm with plants/offices here in the US.

As I drank some good beer and inhaled awesome potato salad I realized that about 80% of these folks all had BlackBerry devices. Some were Z30's but the majority were the workhorse BlackBerry Bold 9900. Maybe it's a cultural thing but they were all loving their BB devices and it was evident.

Couldn't wait to get back here and let you all know the obvious; BlackBerry + German gov/companies = secure and efficient working devices.

Gosh I hope all this makes sense....

    Here's some fun from tonight

I am from Germany and sometimes I feel like being in a parallel universe. When attending meetings the majority of people (banking and investment and quite a few lawyers) have BlackBerry phones. I always attributed this to the fact that most of the companies I deal with are multi national. My company phone is a Bold with quite a few scars on its body.

I do, however, work for an American company and global IT will switch to iPhone this autumn. I don't want to be seen with this toy in public, I therefore might get the Classic and load Good for Enterprise on it. This is the only possibility I can get my work stuff on a private phone. What a joke from the company.

You should have placed "Spark" stickers in secret places inside the cars so the owners had a little treat to be found in the future :-)
