I want to ask, if I need to turn off mobile data service, while on WI-FI? Or it turns it off automatically? I don't know when the WIFI icon is there, does it mean it uses only wifi or both wifi and 3g until the latter is manually off?

If you're on a Wi-Fi network, any BB device will always default to Wi-Fi. No need to turn off any wireless data.

So yes, the Wi-Fi icon on home screen being solid white with a 4-dot BB logo beside it means it's using only Wi-Fi.

No need to turn anything off ever. As for WIFI only in apps, just go to the settings in each app and check the WIFI only box. My podcast and Netflix apps are only to operate while connected to WIFI.
