Great news for people from Germany

"Wir werden das BlackBerry Passport in unsere Angebotspalette bernehmen. Geplant ist der Verkauf ab Anfang Oktober, allerdings wurde dieser Termin vom Hersteller noch nicht besttigt."

Went to a Vodafone UK store yesterday and asked about future BlackBerry Devices and the assistant told me they would only be selling BlackBerry's on their website. I hope he just doesn't know what he's talking about.

He doesn't. And that would apply whether he'd said the above, or whether he'd said a whole wall of every shop would be covered by BlackBerry devices.

    Hi BroncoVAL,

They expected. They don't have a release Date from BlackBerry at the moment. :-)

So, no worry it is still possible that they release the passport in September. :-)

In the UK, the retail staff don't make the decisions about what phones become available when. They put the displays up and sell them, that's it so it's unlikely what he/she will be telling you is correct.

I do. Q10 from Verizon. Because at the time my wife and I were using iPhones and hated all 8+ months that we had the phones. Couldn't wait.

Sadly I am on "vacation" the last week of August. I really want the phone but I do not want the "vacation" to go to quickly.

But keep in mind guys Vodafone germany will only sell you this phone together with a contract.

So if you are in a contract or just want to buy it off the shelf chances are high that Vodafone will kick you out

Went into a Vodacom store in Cape Town and asked the assistant if and when BlackBerry Passport was due for release. He had no idea what I was talking about and I told him so. If it hasn't got Samsung written on it, it doesn't exist!

I really want to know which networks will get this in the UK. Ideally I don't want to jump through hoops to get this phone. I have tweeted o2 but they don't have any details yet, I will have to wait until September most likely.

You can be relatively sure Vodafone will, based on the fact they carry the other devices. Whether others will....is debatable.

I doubt this. I spoke to a Vodafone rep here in Munich/Germany and he will sell this off contract. Usually you can buy all phones unlocked at all service providers. You simply plug in the sim card and it works, no further registration required. I understand this concept is different to how this is handled in the US.

I had that problem In the Vodafone flagship store in Hamburg. Ended in a serious argument with them. At some point I was so close to just throw my 600? into their face.
They said no matter what I do they won't sell it to me and I should please leave the store
