looking for some help here... I just switched devices from one Z10 to another, and wanting to restore the info from the vehicle maintenance tracker app that I use called aCar. I have the back-up file, but in order to restore it, I have to create a folder on the phone's hard drive, not externalSD, with the appropriate name for the app to locate it. I cannot figure out how to create a folder within the phone's File Manager, and when I try to move the folder from one drive to the other, I get in red writing "Can't move files to a read-only folder." even hooking up to a pc and using windows explorer, try to create folder and get the error "Destination Folder Access Denied." Blackberry Link also appears to be useless in actually managing files and folders other then already-established media that's on the phone/sd card. Anybody have any pointers for me? sorry for the long post. thanks.

    I'll throw my 2pence in.

What happens if you enable mass storage mode on in : settings/storage and access.

Even if it's set to on, toggle it.
It may kick something into place.

    Good luck.

Assuming the application is an AndroidTM application, then I believe you want to create a folder (in File Manager) under "misc/android".

Mass storage only works on external sd card, which the op mentioned is not what he needs..
As far as I know, the only "read only" Location on the phones memory is the root folder
    This:
    Z10 hard drive read only?-img_20140801_172631.png

No app reads anything from there, apps read media (picture, music) from the folders.. and app data is under "misc".

So the backup thing probably needs to go into "misc" if it's native, under "misc>android" or "misc>android>android" if it's not..

Ya I did enable mass storage. I had normally kept it off. I'll try again and re-toggle it.

I have a similar problem on my BlackBerry Z30. I have a sub folder in my music folder titled "tones". It's on my SD card. When I move files from music to tones via windows explorer, it's OK. However, I get the same message as Op when I do the exact same thing with the file manager application. Only this folder. I've verified properties of the folder and it's no different than the rest.

Yes you are correct. I went under the misc. folder and found everything there. Was able to transfer the restore file from sd card into that folder. Thanks a lot
