Does T-Mobile Still Support OS7 Devices - in other words, can you use BIS?

Yup. In fact it's as easy as moving your Sim card to your BBOS device. Works instantly. Don't even have to call them. One of the reasons I like T-Mobile.

I thought that you had to tell them so they could activate BIS - are you saying that they no longer use BIS (for an OS7 device)?

Not necessarily. It still uses BIS, but as soon as you turn on the phone, it will install carrier update and you are good to go. I just did this with a 9810. T-Mobile Just gave me the SIM I needed and popped it in when I got home.

You have to call to activate. Your BlackBerry id won't work.

Nope. BIS is active on the line right away.

How about for BES? Would I be able to use exchange with T-Mobile if I got a new BB Passport?

BIS still works, if you already have a Blackberry-specific data plan, but I have to warn you, if you try to switch to any of T-Mobile's new plans (such as the SimpleStarter one for $40 unlimited talk, text and 500MB data), you won't be able to use BIS unless you plead with them to put your old plan back there. I'm currently finding out the hard way that even if you have a data plan, no BIS means a lot of the Blackberry's features just don't work or act funny. For example, my Blackberry App World application will work fine after a battery pull, but after maybe an hour or so, it just stops working and says it can't connect. I imagine this is due to my no longer having BIS.

So bottom line is, if you still have a Blackberry data plan with T-Mobile, cling to it as long as you can.
