Hi all,
I have a Z10 (STL-4) on Verizon. Ever since the update from Verizon to SW 10.2.1.2976 / OS 10.2.1.3253 I have noticed something very strange. I cannot use data while I'm on a phone call. I was able to narrow it down and I noticed it only seems to happen when I call someone. If I receive a call I can use data fine. If I call someone and try to use data at the same time (BBM / internet / email) this fails and I get the message 'no data service currently available'. The moment I disconnect my phone call the status bar goes back to showing 4G LTE and I get data coverage back.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was running the 10.2.1.2xxx leak before this official update and that was running smooth with absolutely NO issues.

Usually you only data when NOT on a phone call. That is to say, if you are on a phone call, you need to have wifi to also use data at the same time, no?

I don't think so Jaydee. I was able to do both data and phone on 4G LTE before the update from Verizon. It works when I'm connected to Wi-Fi AND works when I receive a call, just not when I dial out. But it looks like the feature (or a bug!) used to work before the latest (and not-so-greatest ) update from big red.

I've had this issue for awhile but never tried to pinpoint the cause. LTE is supposed to allow for simultaneous voice and data. Verizon 3G EVDO did not have that option.

I might be wrong, but I thought phone calls were on 3G and data was LTE, allowing simultaneous voice and data. I believe VoLTE has hit a few areas and maybe the latest update is enhanced for it but limiting how we can multi task.

Are you in an area that gets 4g if you only have 3g or less at the time of call you won't get data. My z30 still works fine

Not sure how that works on Verizon, I'm on At&t. But, assuming it is a bug... I'd try backing up, security wipe, and restore if you haven't already...or maybe just reload the autoloader from here.

Sounds like a glitch in your os. I had the same os running on my z10 and was able to place calls and use data without being on wifi. I am a Verizon customer also.

I would try a backup. Security wipe. Then before restore try and see if it works. If it does, do a restore and test again. If fails again wipe then install apps one by one testing in between to see what one is causing it.

That is what I would do.

I do. I usually have at least 3 bars with LTE coverage where I tried this. I made sure of that.

I will try a security wipe over the weekend and test without restoring any backups.

My money is with Draven. Z10 user on same OS level using VZW and I do not have this issue when on LTE signal.

4G data AND voice depends on the carrier's infrastructure, if it is not supported, it will fall back from 4G for voice. ask VZW how it is in your area.

I'm on Verizon and just tried it. Turned off wifi and on 4G LTE with 3 bars. Made a phone call and opened browser and CB. Works just fine.
