Story goes: I was riding a bike and I fell on my left hip which had the z10 covered inside a wallet cover. When I opened the cover, it was booting up and I see some blue spots on the lock screen couple of inches above the blackberry sign. I don't really mind it but I have seen that my battery has been worse since that happened. It drains a lot faster than that. I wonder what's wrong.

I also bought my phone from ShopBB in December. Any chance I can get it fixed from them?

I dropped my phone a few times but there weren't much problems generally for months until recently. Then my battery became terrible until one day my screen just died from me. I had to get it fixed (not under warranty apparently) - changed the screen - but my battery life went back to normal after that!

Have you tried to restart (see below). I wonder if the screen thinks it is constantly being touched and reacting, thereby draining the battery quicker. In Device Monitor, check the CPU tab at the top, next to the Battery Tab. What does it report?

    Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

I ride a bicycle, too. I have always feared falling and landing on my little fanny pack with the phone and wallet. Not only because of possibly breakage to the phone but also landing wrong on the phone+wallet and breaking a bone that presses against the phone+wallet thickness.

So the key takeaway from all this is, don't ride a bike.

    Just kidding....

There several excellent YouTube videos showing how to replace a z10 screen if you're comfortable doing it yourself. You can also try your luck under warranty, blackberry did mine for free under warranty, same issue as your screen except reddish blue splotches.

Also may be worth getting a cheapo handlebar mount for future use. Can be had in ebay for about 4 bucks, feels plasticky but does the job.

Actually the take away is not to show off by riding your bike hands free.

Op, you gotta change or replace your screen with a brand new one to stop the battery drain. Your screen is damaged now. It is a hardware damage which you cant do a screen shot of it unless you take a picture from another device.

    Lol

Yeah I know I was doing a screenshot of the device monitor not the screen itself. Maybe the phone drains more battery because of the blue spots.

Hopefully this phone will last until z30 gets a price cut.

OK so I actually took out my battery and just left it overnight. That seemed to help. I don't get this crazy system drainages again.

Something seriously wrong now. I wonder if we can really know what's using the battery so much. It says system but what exactly. Can a minor blue spot really affect the battery that much?

I would suspect that the TOUCH mechanism (the blue patch) is making a permanent demands on the system. But I'm guessing. Can you try "massaging" it, maybe that would relieve the pressure at that location????

Let's all hope for a happy ending...no more blue spots.

Thing is in the day time the battery life is a bit more normal. It's in the night when it drains the most.

This is the picture of the damage. Tried massaging it from the back and front and no difference. I think I will try to remove the battery and just let it rest for a couple of nights and see if that makes a difference.

Updated to 10.3.1.1154 and battery is way better. I do get the occasional >70% drainage in 5 hours standby once in a while but now it only drains about 15 to 25 percent overnight on standby so it's loads better.

Other things to try to minimise standby are-
turn off swipe to wake (button press instead)
    turn off WIFI
turn off mobile data to leave voice (and texts) only
