    A friend of mine said he took his iPhone to an Apple 'technician' and was told that BBM was doing damage to his battery (drains it rapidly I suppose). Could there be any truth to this???

    guys and gals, I'm sure by "doing damage" the tech was using a slang to mean it was draining the battery unusually fast.. is it possible? yes, but i mean if you take the battery out the battery will lose a charge so put it in a phone and cut it on, everything causes a drain on the battery… And unless BBM on the iPhone is using some sort of other method other than push notification then its more plausible than if it uses a push style method

    Guys I am sure he meant battery drain. I am just curious if this is an isolated incident or is BBM known to cause excessive battery power loss on iOS....

    Heard of any other incidents?

    It's not isoladed incident. Just search thru the forums and you will find out that BBM acts like crazy on all platforms.
