I just saw CNN in Spanish and they were babbling about how BlackBerry attacked Blackphone. How Blackphone is better than BlackBerry 10 .. how we were scared etc.. why so much hate on BlackBerry??

Why does the media tell so much about a non released product and doesn't give credit to the already big company like BlackBerry(at least at being secured) itself and isn't Blackphone 'not that secured'

I'm still waiting to see what else are they going to talk about BlackBerry..

You assume that the media is smarter than you and me. That would be a WRONG assumption ! Many just regurgitate what is generated from larger outlets which set the thought trends. In addition, that have a group think dynamic where they have the same social circles, academic backgrounds, etc. So "everyone" they know feels or thinks how they do. Those who do not must be mislead or dumb. That is why few news organizations or reporters stand out.

There are few who refuse to follow the lead of the pack and think for themselves.

First of all we don't know if Blackberry10 is more secure than Blackphone. Just because Blackphone is based on Android doesn't mean it's not secure. Blackphone had security experts and cryptographers make severe modifications to Android to make it secure. After all, Android is opensource and anyone can modify it. However, since Blackphone is new, it has't had time to prove itself. We will see how it holds up in the long run.

Honestly, I don't think black phone is going to be what people think it will. It's not going to be a device that allows you to do everything you do now and it be all secret. Not gonna happen. You will have to change your usage habits. It may warn you though. Who know?

Blackphone OS, because of their modifications, doesn't have access to Google services, etc... just like BB10.

So if you took a BB10 phone, added the silent whatever apps and turned off diagnostic loging, and a couple of other things, you would pretty much have the same experience as Blackphone.

BES12 has a good chance of beating them at their own game, if they can have a way of doing encrypted BBM voice, that will basically level the playing field. It won't take long.

Back in the Jim and Mike days, RIM was quite militant towards basically everyone. Cease and desist threats for posting pictures of upcoming devices on blogs, overall a terrible, closed door attitude towards media. Supremely arrogant attitude that has lasting repercussions.

You could say the same about Apple but the media will always and has always loved them.

Imo this is all about what is trendy. The media bashes BlackBerry because it's cool to do so. Funny thing is they don't even know how BlackBerry 10 is vastly superior to an Apple OS or cheap Android a sign your life away crap.

How do you know that BlackBerry offers security to normal users ( not talking about BES)? BlackBerry never stated anything about it, just how they using certificates here and there - nothing like "we do not provide access for government agencies etc).
