Does anyone know of any alternative apps to rent and download movies from on the PlayBook now that the video store is closed? Other than the browser, that was the only thing that still made the PlayBooks useful.

The browser was "useful".....

Where I live the PlayBook never had access to the video store. And very few online sites worked with the PlayBook. PlayBook is a great video player, as long as you can get the content and have it converted to the right format.


Last time I tried Amazon Prime did work with Flash.... but it's been a while, and most sites have moved away from flash.

Showbox is all you need.....download or stream....movies or TV. bit slow loading on pb as it's a Sideload, but movies play fine...

http://www.flixanity.com/ on your BlackBerry's browser works well but yeah show box :http://media-apps.cc/android/ is definitely worth the download... to save battery turn of your location whilst using it, and to watch on full screen over HDMI untick "use internal player"

And then press PlayOn at the bottom of the browser window when the video starts to play



Then you can use your BlackBerry whist the film is on the TV .

Bar for playbook here from earlier in week ( there's is a new update, but this still works fine.) needs sideloading.

Just discovered Showbox 3 days ago and just raved about it in another thread. I have it on my z10 and it runs fairly smooth so far. I just noticed they have the Expendables 3 which made my jaw drop since it's not due in theatres until aug. 15th... didn't think the playbook would be able to run it but i guess I'll give it a shot at some point. for now I'm good with just plugging my z10 to my tv.
