I think the picture password can easy be just "entered" by accident, 3 of my friends were able to unlock my BlackBerry with just randomly sliding around on the picture password screen... any thoughts on that? how safe do you feel using a pic password?

It still needs improvements, sometimes the number is a millimetre away from the spot that a simple touch would nudge it into place

I think this could be resolved by only dragging one number instead of the entire set.

I have used my kids to test this and I haven't been able to reproduce this.

I agree. My 3 year old niece did the same.
Think it would be better if you had to pick two spots to unlock, first correct spot should vibrate then move to next spot. Or move to right spot and hold for a set amount of time.

That would make it less safe since anyone watching would be able to easily determine which number you have selected as "your number."

I've said many times in the past that the probability of randomly guessing the password is something like 1 in 100 chances.

It's really not such a safe way to lock your phone if you need absolute security.
It is a pretty good way for those that require less security and an easy way to unlock the phone.

True. That's the issue with this you can gain security for one aspect and decrease for another.

Nope - If a number is very close, it won't unlock if you simply drag it into place. For numbers that are very close, you would first have to move the number some distance away, and then back...

and no password systems are 100%.

The easier they are to use for the owner, the easier they are to use by unauthorized users.

If you really need a secure password, untick the "simple password" - and use a 10+ length password with combination of upper+lowerkeys, numbers - and special characters, and of course not in any way any "normal" words or number-sequence in it.

What is great, is that we can choose how simple and easy, or hard- we want it.

If you want safe, you need a password mixed with letters and numbers and symbols, including caps and lowercase. Make sure no one sees you enter it or don't write it down.

Picture password is just there for convenience.
