I'm want to know if I can use BBM on a Q10 via Wi-Fi only. I am trying to go on a pre-paid plan because it is really cheap plans. No data plan included. So only when i'm home I can use my Wi-Fi and BBM. i'd be fine with that, but I don't want to cut out bbm all in all. Do I have to have a data plan?

Of course, you can use every single app and service on wifi.

No. The old BlackBerry used to use BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) that required a special plan to use BBM. The new BB10 phones don't require a data plan to use BBM and data over wifi. You can enjoy your Q10 without a data plan.

I have a 9900 and it didn't work through that so I was worried. I also have a Q10 that I will now use on my pre-paid plan.
That's great that blackberry changed their old ways about BIS.

To each their own. I would love to have the option for BIS. Albeit the slow speeds, I will have a data connection wherever I go. I'm in Canada and the prices for data plans are ridiculous! So I'm on a Talk&Text plan only.
