    A gesture would be nice. The only way I know of currently is to hold the power button, and when the screen comes up, choose lock.

    What do you mean you cant? Takes less then 2 seconds to lock a BB...

    I think OP means if have a password enabled on the phone it takes a full minute from the time the screen goes black until the password function is activated.

    Hold the power button for two seconds, let go when the shutdown screen flashes up, and then choose to lock the device.

    I use a pouch, so I don't need that step, but this works if you don't like using a pouch or holster.

    On legacy devices, I know you could hold "Alt" and the lock symbol I think...one of the keys..shane that's not on Q10.

    It is mildly annoying that it's a two step matter now. I used to move the lock icon on my legacy phones to the top so it was a convenient way to instantly lock it, and I did search for the equivalent button with the Z30, and I was disappointed it wasn't there.
