How do I see if my Birthday Bold 9900 is unlocked? I just got it today and it used to be locked onto AT&T. The seller says It's unlocked. Do I need to have the sim card in to check if it's unlocked?

You should not need a SIM card.

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Device > Advanced Options > SIM Card.

At that screen type MEPD on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.

Look for Network in the list.

If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

No go into settings / security/ SIM card, you should have three categories that all say unlocked.

This is for a 9900, not a BlackBerry 10. There is no 'SIM Card' Under Security.

OP - Follow my method above.

Just remember that you will NOT see MEPD appear on screen, you just type it blindly as instructed and you will see the information you seek.

Alright, it's unlocked. One last thing since the people before didn't fully wipe the device. If I wipe the device, will it stay unlocked?
