    BES Download problem!!-img_20140627_103224.jpg

I've downloaded the BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 from the Internet but the installation isn't completing!
The image shows where it stops! And I'm not understanding what to do!

    Well, there's your problem.

    BES requires Windows Server 2008.

May I ask if this is just something to play with, or are you serious about having BES?

If you're serious about setting up a BES system, you'll need a server, or at least a VM, to install Server 2008 R2.

You can download a 180 day trial of Server 2008 R2 from Microsoft.
Download Windows Server 2008 R2 Evaluation (180 days) from Official Microsoft Download Center

I was actually planning to use it for a few days and then decide to continue or not!

    smh...

BES isn't something you just install to casually evaluate. There's a whole infrastructure that you need to have in place before BES will even work.

For instance you want to "try this at your Dad's office...", so:
    1. What does your "dad's office" use for e-mail? Does his office even host its own e-mail?
    2. If they do host their own e-mail server, do you have admin access to it? You'll need it.
    3. What kind of e-mail is it? BES10 is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Novel GroupWise, and IBM/Lotus Notes. Each type of server has special configuration considerations.

And, lastly, do you actually have permission to do this?

The fact that you even tried to perform this install on a Windows 7 client leaves me extremely skeptical that you're actually qualified to do this. In the IT world, a BES evaluation is one of those "don't try this at home" kind of things .

I thought it would be easy to do it! I just wanted to see the security on BES 10! And no I'm not qualified to do it. I'm in high school right now.

Heh heh... tell you what, I admire your ambition.

What you MIGHT be able to try: if you can get a hold of a desktop PC (say, up to 5 years old) that isn't in use, download that trial of Windows Server 2012. Then come back and post again

To see what BES10 is all about with minimum effort you're better off trying out the Cloud based preview version so you don't have to install anything anywhere:

Have a read of the BES10 Cloud forums here at CB too.
