    Hi.
I'm using Z30 STA100-2 model and have a question about the 5GHz wifi connection.
My Z30 only detect & connect to low 5GHz wifi channels like 36, 38, 40, 44 but can't detect if I select high channels like 149, 151 etc. in my AP.
Is there any method that make Z30 connect to 149 and above 5GHz wifi channels?
FYI, my Z30 radio version is 10.2.1.3140.

    Welcome to CrackBerry!

I don't know where you are located, but if you are in Europe the link below may explain your issue (see table in section 5 GHz (802.11a/h/j/n/ac)):-

Thanks for your kind answer but I already read this wiki page.

The 5GHz channel setting of my home router - it's Asus RT-AC68U - is below 149 then my Z30 can detect/connect 5GHz but from 149 and above my Z30 can't detect 5GHz network at all.
But my other devices such as IPad2, desktop(Intel AC-7260 PCIe wlan adapter) is detecting/connecting well with any 5GHz channel selected...
Maybe some of Z30's system fileset need to fixed or patched for this but I'm not sure.

And my location is South Korea.

I don't have an answer and noted that you have posted in other fora as well.

You may try this avenue although strictly not a problem-solving channel, but you have nothing to lose:-

The high channels are special channels that are used for radar called (DFS - Dynamic Frequency Selector) but can be used by devices without causing interference to those radars.
The way it works is when you select one of these DFS channels and it detects radar, if it meets a certain threshold it will drop the channel and select an alternative one in the DFS range.

Only devices equipped to use DFS can use these 'high' channels which the Z30 is not so it can only use the lower range of channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 on the 5Ghz Band.

Your router may be capable but your device has to be as well. Rest assured though you will not experience any change in performance over using a 'high' channel than a 'low' one as 5Ghz almost certainly eliminates the issues normally present in 2.4Ghz band which is overlapping channels being the most common one and electrical equipment being the other followed by heavy 2.4Ghz traffic areas with routers in close proximity in your neighbourhood.

I hope this goes some way to clearing things up for you.

Thanks for your explanation and it makes clear that Z30 has no DFS support so it explains all.
As redchilli88 mentioned, I was questioned same one to Blackberry official site Z30 forum today and you makes me no more questioning for this.

Thanks again vinniesworld and thank you too, redchilli88.

Not an issue for me. I connect to ch 165 at 5 ghz range without any issues. I have 2 APs both in 149 and 165. I can see and connect to both without any issues.

Chanel 10 is 2.5 GHz. (1-14). If u mean changing channel on the blackberry then go into the Wifi setting if your connection and choose the option to connect with 5ghz only.
