Are you using the OS that your carrier recommends for your device or did you load a leaked beta OS?

IMHO, it's a hardware problem. Sometimes is the dust in the motherboard, others in the contacts of the battery (paper trick used to solve it) or the power converter lost its performance. In my case, I suffer all kind of problems about battery's inestabilities, the taking photo with flash reboot problem, the too low battery to use radios (when the battery reader said 35% or more), the rebooting and then the battery reader said more battery than before rebooting.
I changed the battery and after a while the same problem. I supposed the voltage has to be in a range and the dust o whatever makes fluctuations, I don't know. I have two 9790 and it happens more often in one than in the other. I sent one to the service and changed the motherboard, so is like a new one, but after a year it start the problem. I think, in my case, i always took the phone inside my pocket, (jeans) and it takes a lot of dust.
So, in your case, when the phone triggers the flash it demands more power and for whatever reason it can't and then reboots.
    Good luck.

its the battery i have had this issue with my 9790 and 9700 before
changing the battery fixed for me
though turning off flash with the defective battery to take photos will also work

I did have the same problem, sometimes I could take 1-2 pic and the phone would reboot. Replaced the battery and its been fine since.

I'm really tempted to try a 9790, in a retro way, coming from a z10 I just want something simple...but all these reported problems are worrying.

Is the 9790 a bit of a worry?

Just ordered a 9790 from eBay. Wanted something retro too. Had one in the past.
