I have been reading alot about having to sideload Snap or 1Market into Blackberry phones. I'm wondering with the 10.2 do we still need to sideload anymore apps ?

Let me explain why I am asking such a question. I have downloaded a 1 Mobile Market .apk file onto my phone and just clicked on it and it just installed the app by itself. I have also tried to download other apk files and it just installed the app.

I have also tried to share these apk files with my friends on Blackberry 10 and they just install and work fine. Do we still need to sideload anymore ? Really ?

The answer to your question is yes and no. If you are installing a .apk (android) file you no longer need to sideload. as long as you are on the latest software. In the case of snap yes it needs to be sideloaded due to it is a native BlackBerry .bar file not an android file.

    Many do not trust 1MobileMarket.
Many do not trust "shared" APK files.

But you can download the Amazon Store without sideloading and install most of the major Apps that are in Google Play. But not all of them and in most cases a version that is one or more generations behind. So if you want all of the latest Andorid APK's you will need to sideload SNAP.

I do think the SNAP developer ought to port his App to a APK file that can be installed without sideloading.... or better yet BlackBerry allow it in App World

So I've installed a couple of apks directly, bypassing Snap. I don't have the slide down Hide Bar setting. Is this available only when using Snap to install apks from Google Store?

    I'm running 10.2.1.2196 on a Q10.

    Tapped out on my Q10
