I was referring to the Maps v7 to v8 freezing problem which is specific to STL 1. I have an STL 1, so i know there is no solution to that problem.

Does this new version automatically switch to navigation/driving mode when you start driving? Regardless of whether you typed in a destination first?

I've tried all Gmap versions after the 6.14 beta, and always go back to that beta. All the others stay in overhead plan view even when driving and won't tilt toward the direction of travel (one of the version 7 releases would rotate your direction of travel about 100 degrees clockwise for some reason - totally useless). Unless I type in a destination. Same thing BBMaps does, which I don't like. I don't always need a mapped out destination, I just want it to go into navigation view.

Gmaps 6 is also the only version of Gmaps that automatically keeps the backlight on.
