In all the updates we have seen and leaks how come a simple option can't be added back to the phone? If I get an email and someone is asking for people's phone numbers all I want to be able to do is go into my address book look up said contact and copy their phone number and then email address and paste it into the email.

The only work around I have found is to go to the contact then click on edit and copy the info that way which is a a pain in the ****.

The phone is about productivity and this completely unravels that notion. It was easier to get things done on my 9900.

I know this is a small silly thing but I need to do this almost daily when people want cell and email addresses of the crew they are hiring for a call sheet.

Did I miss something and their is an easier way to copy contact info?

Smart Contact, it's in BBW. I think it's what you are looking for.

Not looking for an app just a simple copy and paste of an email and phone number of the address book / contact app.

On everyone phone prior to bb10 you could open a contact and use the trackball or trackpad or even that wheel on the right hand side of the BB and copy a phone number or email address or hell home address of a contact and paste it into a text or email.

Not looking to reinvent the wheel but the function was there for years and taken away with the bb10 phones.

Yes, check out the app. It is basically a copy/paste function with check boxes for what information you want to send. And you can add to email, text, etc.

go into contacts from the Phone apps. From there you can just click on the selected contact and "copy number" option will appear from the right side.

I appreciate the help but you have to admit it's kinda silly you have to download an app just to be able to copy a phone number or email address...it should be a basic function on any smart phone and be built into the OS

I agree with you OP, such a basic feature yet been overlooked and again in the Contacts app! I think it needs a complete makeover

Are you not utilizing the share option?

The SIM card doesn't have all the required space and/or fields to contain all the contacts and details of a modern smartphone..

Nevertheless, you can go into the "Contacts" app, enter into "setting" swiping from the top bezel and, at the bottom of the page, you should see an option "copy contacts from device into SIM card"

I definitely agree, if you don't want to "Share contact" the process for getting the phone number out is long-winded. A simple option in the overflow menu once the number is held down would suffice and make it far easier than going into 'Edit' and having to copy-paste.

Very strange that they managed to build this into the contacts app for users coming from the phone app but not for those opening the phone app "natively".
I agree this should get built into the phone app, this omission was criticized since bb10 was released.

I totally agree. I do the same thing. Click on edit so that I would have the option to copy the phone number. The share option turns it into a .vcf file when all I need is the number itself....

It is silly to have to download an app for features that were there on legacy.
It is almost as if Blackberry is using the same motto as Apple "There is an app for that".....very sad

@ least on iPhone you can copy whatever you want of a persons contact info by just pressing your finger on the number or email address.

    Simple yet productive!

Why don't you just attach the persons contact information. There's no need to copy and paste.

There's personal information like the owner of the companies Amex card info or peoples home phone numbers and addresses that these people don't need to see.

My annoyance is again something so simple like copy and pasting a phone number from the address book to an email should be a basic function on any device.
