I have been using a blackberry z10 for the last few days and decided today to try hdmi out. I have the proper cable but nothing goes through. Am I doing something wrong?

    How are you connecting?
Just use an HDMI cable, connect your device to an HDMI display. The phone will detect that device's HDMI display.

When you start a video while connected to hdmi hit the three dots in the lower right corner then press PlayOn and your hdmi option should come up.
Also are you setting your tele' to hdmi 1 or hdmi 2 under Auxiliary.

Play on is for wireless DLNA to a supported DLNA Device through a network. This is not required for HDMI out. It's more straight forward.

Ensure that the certified micro HDMI cable is securely connected to your z10 or BB10 device with connector and securely connected to your TV. Then just select your input for that HDMI connector on your TV. Turn on and off TV or your BB10 if necessary

When you plugged ur hdmi cable to your tv, go to settings, display, scroll down to HDMI display mode and play around with the settings and see which resolutions is compatible to your tv. Good luck.

It's actually better because it let's you play a movie, photos or music on the big screen while you do something else on the phone or put it on standby.

Mini-HDMI to HDMI to screen, remember to select the output on whatever you're playing.
