    I use Gmail for my emails. When first set up it would ping as notification. Now whatever I do to change the notification settings has no effect and it no longer pings has anyone else had this problem

    Settings > Notifications > Apps > Email

    Turn whatever you want on. Sound is off by default (for whatever reason) on newer OS releases.
