Hardware dependent, so you still can't.

This thread has nothing to do with CB Apps such as CB10, so thread moved to appropriate Z10 Forum instead.

If you would like to share files with another device connected to the same WiFi network as you, try WiFi Drive

No app needed to share files between your Z10 and other devices over your wifi network. Just set up wifi sharing in BB Link and away you go.

Wifi Direct is quite different. The way it works is your phone (if it were a Z30) and the other device (say, a media player or a bluray player or a smart tv) connect to each other on their own wifi network without involving your wifi router. Once this connection is established, you can play videos and music on your phone on that other device.

But if you want to share video, music or images between your Z10 and other media player, smart TV you can do so by tapping the icon in the top right corner of your video player, image or music player of Z10. It will share through DLNA, I use it all the time. I can watch my favorite serie on my smart TV and keep BBM and text my friends at the same time !!

May I ask what "smart" tv you have? I may be in the market for something new. I think Samsung does not use the terms dlna???

I do it on a Samsung Smart TV that I connected to my wifi with a wifi dongle. As soon as I configured the TV, my Z10 showed my TV as a compatible screen to show my video, images on it

When you go into settings / storage and access / set "access using wifi" to "On", this allows your windows computer to see files on your phone. If it is already on, toggle it off then on again. You will be prompted to set up a new password. Go ahead and do that. Your username is also shown there. By default, it is set to BlackBerry.

(Note: For this feature to work, your phone and your computer must be connected to the same wifi network. If not, then you can use the "remote file access" feature, but to do that, you have to install BB Link and set it up in the Link settings.)

Plus, on windows 8, you will have to click on Network/Computer/yourZ10. You'll be prompted by windows to enter your username and password. Unless you changed it, the username is "BlackBerry".

At that point, you should have access to your phone in Windows file explorer on your computer. You don't need to execute a "run" command.

I really hope this helps, if not you, dazzler boy, then perhaps someone else. This works just fine on my phone and W8 laptop. Really cool, actually.

    Hey, Dazzler Boy,

Dazzle me with this answer: is your laptop hooked up to your phone's mobile hotspot?

If so, I'm not sure wifi access works in that case. If not, then go ahead and use "remote file access". But, to do that, first you have to install BlackBerry Link to set up remote file access. Once setup, it works really well.

How come then "Wifi-Direct" is in the app manager of my Z10 and seems to be taking up a fair amount of space to boot?

Poor coding on BB's part. It is included in the OS so that devices that do support it, have it. It just saves them having to support two slightly different versions of the OS.
