Z3 beings such a critical launch would it not make sense for someone at CB to cover the launch from Indonesia. We could get some first hand quality coverage.

+1. I agree. It was the first device launch of Chen' s era and also the most critical launch for BlackBerry to date. CB found guilty IMO!!!

    Beware - MAJ on Z10 !!!

I guess CB team is invested in mobile nations and Internet of things which has has grown very much lately...but fresh people such as Jubei are coming on board and bringing refreshing posts.
I also think that the CB should be less north American centered, in particular now that other markets such as Indonesia are dominant.

It would be a hella good vacation that's for sure. Also even though the z3 is a big deal the main press conference and what not has already been given and whatever comes next is mostly reception and reviews in dialects very different from the ones anyone at CB and for that matter at MB are familiar with.

Seriously? Pot shots at CB for not flying to another country for a budget-device launch? It's not like there is an event to attend and report on to make the cost even remotely worthwhile. It's a device launch people. Nothing more than a device review merited.

I know the current hipster rage trend on this forum is to bag on CB... but c'mon... this is really out there.

If it was been launched in Miami you can bet your bottom dollar they'd be there to cover the launch! ; )

Very nice the least they could've done was to contact someone over there to cover it in this similar manner.

The CB10 contracting someone to cover the event is definitely a great suggestion.

The Z3's importance to BlackBerry devices future viability is not to be underestimated.

    ESPECIALLY for full touch.

BB10 - call blocking please, BBM - too many to list

Maybe it is a budget device launch, but it's significant to the BlackBerry Story because

    (1) they barely release any new devices,
    (2) it's the first one under a new CEO (is there any on the ground strategy that is significantly novel?),
    (3) it's the first one under a new and significantly different manufacturing partnership (how is Foxconn handling channels, distribution? Any backroom marketing push?)
    And
    (4) because if it fails... you can bet they probably won't be many more "launches" to cover so... if they really do enjoy covering BlackBerry, I would advise them not to waste any such opportunities.

So yeah... I get it, It's far, people sound funny, and it's not Mee-aah-Mee (people still sound funny there, but it's closer). But they should have sent at least the newbie Jubei to get some travelers diarrhea....

If it's a dollars and cents issue, BlackBerry could have covered a CrackBerry blogger's airfare. Maybe flew them over on the luxury private jet.

Orrrr they could start expanding CB to include an Indonesian blogger. Considering it's the country with the highest density of blackberry users

Actually, that's exactly what the OP is about. It's a discussion about what CB should be doing or should have done to generate content for the site.

The thread belongs here in Site Support! I will also reach out to Kevin and the Team and alert them to its existence although they may have already seen it.

As a side note the Moderation team is already prepared as we have an Indonesian expat who lives in New Zealand and a Mod from the Philippines! We are good to go! Plus we have a strong network of CB members from the Indonesian community both there and in other countries on site willing to help new users out.
