For those of you that were using the manually loaded .alx files, go to mobile.blackberry.com and download anyways since this is version 2.1.37 as opposed to 2.1.32 that was in the original thread.
my blackberry is unlocked for tmobile. aim installed but when i try to log in it tells me that the service is not enabled for this handheld. please help
when i go to blackberry.com/aim it saids sorry your device does not meet the system reqquirements that are needed to suppose aol instant messanger for blackberry..

I suggest you simply do a battery pull (again?) and that should clear up your problem. As has been said around here many times, a battery pull solves most of what ails your Blackberry even ailments caused by a battery pull.
Also, does anyone know if the Yahoo IM client will work on the Bold now?
I believe this aim is runing off the data plan however correct me if I'm wrong the oz aim client runs off sms (it is terribly slow tho)

I was wondering the same thing, as mentioned oz ran off text but googletalk runs off data, anyways, I contacted my AT&T bus. rep last night, I was told I'd get an answer today, I'll follow up when I do.

The AIM app that this thread is referring to works 100% through your data connection. It does not use SMS. It works in the exact same way as the GoogleTalk client, the Yahoo! Messenger client, and BBM (with the exception of not being based around your PIN). SMS is not needed.
