Just yesterday my z10 decided the pulldown flashlight wont work, th3n I discovered the light on the camera isnt working as well...odd part is the flash does go off.....any suggestions appreciated

Hi, we need more info, could be hardware or firmware.. so what model stl? Os? Any android apps you installed recently that use camera?

Download Blackberry Virtual Expert (it may be included in newer versions of the OS). It contains a series of tests.

Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

Stl100-3, 10.2.1.2102....I have restarted and done a battery pull.....as for android apps nothing new ...

This just got stranger....tried your suggestion of a restart using thr volume buttons and when it came back tried the light..it initially worked, however when I tried the light a second time it didnt work again...and after trying that again, nothing...

Do you have any other Flashlight programs? At one time, before the OS/QuickMenu had that option, folks would install 3rd party Flashlight apps.

Any Android apps that might use the camera (which might affect the flash)? Any other newer apps?

Will take a double check....I dont believe so...going to delete any camera apps and skype and see what that does

Deleting all those apps did nothing....maybe I should try installing the latest leaked os ? Never have done that but maybe it might trigger something?

oops...no it doesnt...I use the flashlight from the dropdown often as I go to bed after the wife does normally lol...so I know it was working

Ya was thinking that as well initially...and that brief moment it worked again got me on that insane path of "MUST BE SIMPLE AND I WILL GET IT! " UGH ...doing a backup in case I decide to wipe and start over...hate to though

To make things worse, as I headed out to the car and tapped my Nfc tag I now find out my Nfc is dead too....wth....help! prob need a complete redo at this point? Opinion?

Sounds like you do need to test whether it is the OS or actual hardware. You did try Virtual Expert?

Lol...oddly I tried the pic idea but with no luck...so did a complete wipe and the nfc is back, but the light isnt......sigh..PS. the flash works, just nit the steady light

I ran virtual expert, but there is no test for that light...or did I miss something...will run it again lol

I Just think about it, did you devide ever been dissasembly? Maybe a loose connector or something like that.. just a tough..

ok...this adds to the strangeness. ?.I took a bunch of pics with the flash on, and the damn flashlight worked...for 3 tries, then nothing...repeated the process and same result....if I had hair there would be none left now lol

Try SIC wipe bro and fresh install do not restore worth a try

One more thing - change to the Video Camera. Then hit the THREE DOTS (more menu) and try turning on the LIGHT - in video the light stays on - just like a flashlight.

Try battery pull for 10 mins and then try again

Tried the 10 minute pull, turning th light on in the camera and all the other suggestions..even a blurred matt lol...nada...just going to bring it in and have them try another battery and if that doesnt work just get a new one....thanks all for all the advice and help
