I will upgrade when BlackBerry inevitably release an obvious upgrade to the extremely popular 9790 - oh no, wait...they won't. I simply don't understand why, with the 9790 and 9900, they actually had a solid base (from the 9700 and 9000 days) - but have decided to completely shun it. Why is it so hard to do what the likes of Apple, etc have done so well and build a fantastic product (9700, 9000 then 9790 and 9900) and keep upgrading it to modern day. Still on the 9790 for me.

I suppose Apple created a modern, full touch screen phone as it's first attempt. I don't think just re-releasing the Bold every so often would have made much difference. BB7 still has far more visible handset out there than BB10, and I doubt many people would have got an updated Bold any more than get a Z10 upon it's release.

The problem isn't so much with the products that BB release. It's more the fact they they got left behind, and then didn't market anything properly, period. As much as the Bold 9900 was and is a great phone, it's simply not as good as my Z30. It's Bold, but it's old.

Yes, I still pull out my 9900 from time to time to admire because, despite the unforgivably bad camera, it's still the phone that resonated most with me. But, it's long in the tooth. And BBRY got left behind because they didn't really release a new device for 18 months. That's an eternity in the smartphone world, and the company wrongly assumed users would remain loyal during that time.
