BlackBerry would be the most likely to have a clearer picture of how BB10 and BBOS sales are doing in that market, they and Foxconn are the ones that know how many devices were presold and how many are planned to be produced. But the best BlackBerry could do would be to "guess", and based on the number of write downs they have done over the last five years for over produced products.... their best "guesses" aren't all that great.
My best guess would be much closer to 20K than 200K.

Oh I think they can manage a little more than 20k. I was hoping for 500k at one point but 100-200k I feel is doable if not even realistic!
I guess they'd first try out with 20-25k...
Then looking at the stock levels and analyzing the demand they can produce more...
But I dream and think that they should sell atleast 60-80k per month to call it a success.... that's only for Indonesia.
That would be much better than sales of Z10/Z30 and Q10 combined...
And once they get the 60k phones in the market and people like it... they'll recommend to others and the cycle should continue by itself....
-------------
In all of this I'm still not seeing any marketing effort from BlackBerry which can directly help sales.... guys lets make a BlackBerry Marketing fund and post ads for BlackBerry on YouTube and Facebook... I'm ready to contribute a few $$
The New York Times article today mentions 25,000 limited edition "Jakarta" labeled Z3's were made. My guess is they would expect this to be no more than 10% of the total.

My guess is based on nothing more than guessing!

Im pretty sure if this is true, BlackBerry would have sold all of the limited editions. This is good news.
I doubt they will sell more than 10k this month. It's available in 1 country and although the price is attractive, it doesn't ground breaking features. If this was a global launch, then we can talk about 100k+ being a reasonable target but no way they get 20k in 2 weeks.
At least Blackberry is not selling them at a lost and doing any write downs as of yet. Given how the other BB10 devices turned out, namely the z10 and q10, I think the z3 success is going to come down to supply management.
Lukewarm response isn't that good.... but we would have to see total numbers since it would also be sold online....and Foxconn will try and push it since the make money on this phone...
Hope so its a success....a lot depends on the Z3.... its a turning point for the company battling survival

Posted via CB10... and my awesome Z10
Yeah it's pretty vital - certainly for their hardware business.
What I'm reading makes sense. The Q and Z were massed produced. Bit BlackBerry in the proverbial ***. Playing this safer is much smarter.
If Indonesia us still a strong BlackBerry market and there are 200 million people. This may be good for a long term boost. iPhone and Android are what they are. BlackBerry is something else. BlackBerry needs to keep its strength where it is.
If the lack of Apps is a deal breaker, then it is. I have certain ones I use all the time that are on BlackBerry World. I've seen the other stores and, I'm not impressed. I'm actually not impressed with the BlackBerry Apps. Most seem useless and, not to my needs. That's me. Others, it's everything.
Z3 is a 'test the waters' phone for outside North America - period. Q10 should have kept the track pad or, made a 'virtual ' track pad. Live and learn. The Z10 and Z30 are fantastic IMO.
Here's to hoping. BlackBerry was pronounced DEAD a year ago. Hasn't happened yet.
