Just got my z10 3 weeks ago and I noticed that it dies minutes after the 20% battery warning, specifically when it reaches 16 or 17%. Anyone experiencing this? I have the stl100-1 z10.

This is kinda common on 100-1s and there's more info on these forums. Did you just upgraded your OS? This calibration issue comes often while upgrading a stl100-1 on a less than full battery.

Usual fix? Try letting it die and removing the battery afterwards. You will leave the battery out for about an hour, then unplug your charger from the wall and plug the usb connector to your z10 BEFORE INSERTING THE BATTERY. Now go ahead and insert battery and plug adapter to wall outlet. I know it sounds like voodoo; trust me, it works.

While the battery is out, should I plug the charger to the phone? Kind of confused.

    1. Let the battery die
    2. Remove battery for at least 30 minutes
2.1 unplug a/c adapter from wall. Leave unplugged.
    3. Insert battery
    4. Plug usb end of adapter to your z10
    5. Plug adapter to wall outlet
    6. Pray. Or not. Just kidding!
    7. Let it charge completely. This is very important to properly cycle your battery.

    Good luck!

This is why I said it sounds like voodoo. Since I don't have a voltage tester in my office so I didn't go with that one.

Don't use generic or weak chargers with your Z10. They throw off the charging circuits. To recalibrate and solve your issues follow these steps: Take out the dead battery, SIM card and SD card. Plug in the original BlackBerry charger that came with the phone. Hold the power button for 3 seconds or until you see the red light come on. Leave the phone in this state for at least 2 minutes or until it shuts off completely on it's own. You may or may not see the red battery outline or the white blackberry logo on the screen. Plug out the charger and leave everything out for 1 hour. Replace everything and allow the phone to charge. Never use weak chargers on your Z10 again.

I'm not saying that weak chargers are the cause or the only thing that can trigger this flaw in the phones but it is a factor in many cases of battery charging circuit miscalibration.

My phone's calibrated now but I didnt try any of the solutions recommended. I just let my battery reach up to 18% and charge it all the way to 100% and did it everyday. Last night I tried to drain it to check and I was surprised it was able to drain at around 3-5%.

And now it shuts off at around 33%. This is really frustrating. I love my phone but I really get annoyed when this happens
