do you guys restore after loading a new OS? on BBOS i used to selectively restore a few things, but not everything. Link doesn't give me the same flexibility so I never have. am i living in the past ??

On BB10 if you load a leaked OS, your phone is typically wiped in the process. If you want to keep your app settings and data then a full restore is great.

I never restore I use contactx for my contacts , my emails re sync when loaded , BBW has all my apps , other stuff like notes I put into easy notes pro and back up to my sd card. I very rarely have any issue at all.

ever notice any battery or memory issues versus a wipe and fresh install?

Yeah, the battery drains super quickly while restoring contacts and messages. If you see references to "letting the phone settle" on threads about battery issues, this is what they are talking about.

So wiping is probably bad for the battery when doing fresh installs. (if you can avoid wiping)

No it just drains faster for the first little while until everything is synced up.

I generally choose not to do a restore when I do system wipes of anything. Luckily the cloud has made life a little easier. In addition, I keep a checklist of things to ensure I make copies of and store elsewhere, i.e., on a memory card.

I never restore. I always reinstall everything from fresh.

Full restore is my first choice. Always use autoloader. No security wipe. Full restore. Not having any difficulty in recent times with the latest versions of OS and Link on Z30.

I've only ever done one leak via autoloader. The battery died pretty quick after restore. About a day later though, it was better than before.

About to do another leak tomorrow via autoloader too.

Personally I'd prefer NOT doing a full restore but link doesn't provide as much granularity in restoring as Desktop Manager and BBOS so I normally just load the new OS and fully restore on top of that.
