So, it looks like I won't get a trade for my z10 (even trade for a Q10), and looks like a deal is in the works for one of my other options of trading for a 9900. With that being said, I have contacts and lots of stuff in the "remember" app, (which will become the memos app on the os7), how can I transfer that effortlessly from bb link back to the blackberry 7?

Well I know when I backed up BBOS7 my memopad notes were backed up and transferred to Remember app. I have no idea if it works in reverse.

I don't know if you can expect this to work. I guess there's a chance that Link will be able to do Device Switch to move your contacts, although I haven't tried it. I very much doubt that your Remember entries will be transferred.

I'd suggest copying and pasting your local Remember entries into Evernote folders, then downloading Evernote on your 9900. You can then move them into your Memos app if you want.

As I recall, Evernote was terribly slow in OS7. I used Upvise instead, because it was much faster. Upvise also has the ability to import and export contacts, so you could install that on the Z10, put your notes and contacts into it, then install it on the 9900 and get them out, bypassing Link altogether.

I'm trying to remember if I still have the last backup from my 9900 from several months ago. Then I would only have to add a thing or two that I've added since I switched to the 10.

Well. I've been trying to get an even trade for a Q10, but this time around its not happening as easy as the first time I did it. And I can't stand this touch screen. Can't afford to buy a Q10 since I'm not working at this time....so I figured I'd get the 9900 for a few months till I get back on my feet, and then try to either get the Q10 again or wait a few more months for the 20,Ughhhhhh!!!!!!

I'm sorry, I'm just not a touchscreen guy, been with a keypad for over 12 years and I think the closest I'll get to being happy with a touchscreen is the Q10 type of phone...."half and half"

It will be hard to trade for a Q10 but I wouldn't downgrade to OS7 either. I tried that once after my Z10 got destroyed and it was sooo frustrating. The only thing I missed was the keyboard shortcuts and the trackpad. I wouldn't give up so soon. You will find a trade and get your Q10 back.

Yeah, I went through this several weeks ago and got hold of a Q10 quickly once I posted, I messed up and traded again and now here I am....once again on the prowl for another Q10. plus I actually like the 7 as well, it does have the touch screen combination so I'm good with it. I'll miss the camera though.

Why would any tech company make provisions to downgrade? Does Apple or Microsoft do this? Hardly seems like BBRY is being "arrogant".

I've done that before several times and went right back on the hunt so don't feel too bad. It all boils down to the keyboard though. My 9900 was a beast. I probably went wrong going back to the torch instead of the bold. But the 9900 will be close enough for now.

I'm not always on the phone either. Basically use it for emails and texting. Everything else will now be done on my iPod 5. I don't like mixing business with pleasure. So the 9900 is great for me regardless of the OS. So if I can't get the Q10, having the 9900 as a consolation prize isn't too shabby (except for the camera)

Because BlackBerry themselves have done it for years.

Exactly, my iPod 5 will fill the void for the Q10. Plus like I said, I don't consider my phone as a toy. That's for my ipod...
The 9900 can take good enough pictures, when I need something better I will break out the ipod.

It's not so much about going back to bb7, it'more about being able to carry my contacts and other info I have on my 10 over and the point is that regardless of what os you have on an iphone for example, once you connect to iTunes you can get your contacts and other info, weather it's an iphone 4 or 5s, the same can't be said about blackberry.

Your analogy is flawed: and iPhone 4 or 5S are both still running the same core OS. Even on different versions, the guts are the same, BlackBerry 10 and BBOS are two very different animals. Try swapping information from say a Windows 7 PC to a Windows 98 machine and see how well it works.

Yes, BlackBerry made a mistake in not making transitions from BB10 and BBOS easy, but they also have a vested interest in moving forward.

On a slightly separate sidenote, I used a 9900 for the first time in close to a year yesterday and in comparison to my Q10 there's no way I'd ever consider going back. It just seemed so cramped and laggy. There are different tastes for everyone though so enjoy.

Yikes! I've owned my fair share of BlackBerry's over a 14 year period. Thought I'd never get a touch screen BlackBerry myself but I tried the Z10 and that was all she wrote!

Now there is no way in hell you'd get me to go back to a smaller screen or physical keyboard. Good luck, seems like a weird option in ditching any BB10 device to go back to a BBOS modal but stranger things have happened.
