    Do I have to back up my device before I update it? Because every time I try to back up my Z10 it says make sure your device is connected.

    It's recommended just in case something goes wrong, then you can restore your device easily. If you're updating through an autoloader than definitely should back up since it does not keep any of your settings or anything. Otherwise it's not necessary but recommended for sure.

    Check if you have an update for BlackBerry link...that might be your issue....if you are updated you may want to change USB to Micro cord. back that baby up or you will lose what you have.
