Hear me out, what I'm asking is: If you had to choose, would you rather use BlackBerry hardware (i.e. a Z30) with an Android/iOS/Windows Phone operating system, or would you rather have 10.2.1 running on an LG/Samsung/Nokia phone?

And no, you can't say BOTH!

What is the root, bottom line, cannot do without, reason you all continue to side BlackBerry in 2014? At the end of the day, is it the hardware or software?

If I had to choose, I'd say BB10 on different hardware. Hardware only does so much for me, so if I don't thoroughly enjoy the OS, it wouldn't mean a thing.

I can't say I love my Z10. I like its screen but would love that in a slightly smaller form factor. On the other hand, I absolutely love OS10!

Count me for 10.2.1 on different hardware, as long as it has a nice screen, decent size, and great battery life.

PS For the record, I think the Z30 is a great phone. But its too big for my jeans' pockets.

It's difficult for me to choose, because it's really the combination of the hardware and software that keeps me hooked on BlackBerry.

But if I had to choose, it would probably be the hardware. I'm using a Bold 9930 for 30 days to see what it's like, and the iconic keyboard and toolbelt combined with a touchcreen interface is proving to be a fantastic combination for me.

    And it's just a great-looking device.

Same with the BB10 hansets. They just look and feel of high quality and project: "I mean business (but I can rock games, too)."

For me, the root reason is the keyboard (and trackpad) so I will go with BlackBerry hardware. Now, if this question included the legacy OS I would probably say both.

I'd take bb10 on more modern hardware.

Why? I'm not a child and choose things on the 90% use case. The Hub and stock keyboard are a big reason as to why I prefer bb10. Android and iOS don't have anything that compares. I also like the home screen that features open apps.

The one android app I wanted works fine on bb10. That's the Disney World app that provides ride wait times.

this is also why my wife has a Prius. There is no reason to buy a bigger car for the 5% of the time that you need it. And in that case I have a truck if we really need it.

Children need games, so their 90% use case should send them to iOS or Android. Adults choose those OSes because the advertising told them to.

No contest really, it's really about the OS.

The hardware isn't brilliant, it's just good. That said my Z10 has been banged all over the place and even bounced down the stairs and it only has a slight mark on the body; try doing that with a monkey glassed iPhone.

BB10 on the HTC One M8 hardware or similar would be pretty damn awesome.

The roots for me were push email notification from os6/7 and BBM. Then upgraded to Z10 do to simple design which is perfect for me, media flash, and BB OS10 is like BOSS when it comes to Multi tasking. I can't stand this new email push in BB OS10 though, it's like having an iOS or android.

Hardware wise definitely wouldn't change to anything else. I hate touch screens, so a Q10 is currently the best option. A different OS on Blackberry hardware wouldn't be a deal breaker, although I'd rather avoid iOS and android.

    Easy, BlackBerry 10.

Lots of better hardware, but nothing close for productivity IMO.

Anyone can spec a phone, not everyone can have BB10. There is a reason I want a BB10 tablet. I regularly interface with others Iphones or Android devices. Makes me appreciate BB10 even more.

I wish BBRY would license BB10 to others so we could have more hardware choices.

    It's the software.

Any other OS platform with a different device is basically the same dog with different fleas.

For me, I actually like the gesture-based interface of BlackBerry 10 very much, although it took a while to get used to. The frames moving to represent different UI "states" is nice. Probably an acquired taste, but then I also like using vi text editor (if not the editor, then I use the vi keymappings) above everything else.

Because BlackBerry is a smartPHONE... most efficient messenger without the bull**** of rooting or installing a new keyboard.... the features are all built in. I'll use other platforms as tablets or exclusively for gaming. NVIDIA shield android device for example.

Unfortunately we will have to wait until sometime next year for the Z50. This is where I think Chen is making a big mistake.
It's not a mistake. They can do better with more money to advertise it properly in the future.

I looove the Q10 keyboard, I came from a Nokia E72 (which I also liked from a HW perspective, not so much Symbian) but the OS rocks.

I bought the Q10 because, I wanted a QWERTY device but since I used the OS, I absolutely fell in love with it and the native apps.
Compared to the design of a few new phones (esp. the HTC One), the Q10 looks a bit clumsy.

So it would be alien phone with the OS - never ever Android, it's not an OS, it's an illness ...
